Meetup: Predictive Maintenance & MLOps: More Than Tooling and Platforms

October 20, 2022 / ASML Building 7, De Run, 5504 DR, Veldhoven

We are organizing this fourth Eindhoven Data Community meetup in collaboration with ASML. During this meetup, we will dive into the world of Sustainable Predictive Maintenance using machine learning models and learn why MLOps is not about tooling and platforms.

MLOps is not about platforms & tooling

MLOps is a term that has gained tremendous popularity over the past few years. This has resulted in many companies jumping on the opportunity to sell their latest and greatest MLOps platform, framework, or piece of tooling. Yet, despite what some of these companies want you to believe, MLOps is about much more than platforms and technologies. MLOps is about people, organisations, and processes. In this talk, Daniel will share his view on MLOps from a non-technical perspective, based on the experiences of GoDataDriven with different clients.

How to build sustainable Predictive Maintenance at ASML

In the chip industry, time is money. Customers of ASML’s lithography systems expect high uptimes. But expected and unexpected maintenance is part of that equation, sometimes requiring to halt the production temporarily.

In this presentation, we show you how we are building and deploying Machine Learning models to predict upcoming maintenance actions within the upcoming three months. Our work helps to boost productivity, maximize system utilization and reduce unexpected workload for ASML’s customer support.

About Daniel:

Daniel Willemsen is a Machine Learning Engineering consultant at GoDataDriven, where he helps companies move quickly through the whole machine learning life cycle: from problem to production.

About Anjan:

Anjan P. Gantapara is the Product Owner for DUV Predictive Maintenance project at ASML. He and his team focus on creating machine learning and data-driven end-to-end solutions to enable and sustain Predictive Maintenance at ASML. Prior to ASML, he worked at Philips Research as a Senior Data Scientist in the Predictive Maintenance projects for Philips Imaging Systems like MRI and CT systems. He has a PhD from Utrecht University in the field of Computational Physics.
